Summer is often a time for maintenance and cleanup rather than new features.
Keeping Things Running
This quarter has been less about new projects and more about keeping existing ones running smoothly. The Zillow.Services library needed updates to match API changes. Various internal tools needed patches and improvements.
The Value of Maintenance
It’s not glamorous work, but maintenance is essential. Technical debt accumulates if you don’t address it. Dependencies get outdated. APIs change. Taking time to maintain existing software prevents larger problems down the road.
Planning Ahead
With the maintenance work done, I’m starting to plan for a bigger architectural shift in the virtual landing platform. The current C#-based approach has served well, but there are reasons to consider a more web-native stack.
